Our volunteer time is coming to an end soon. It is amazing how time moves so fast but our 3 weeks of volunteering is nearly over. We have spent this past week in the tiny rural town of Urubamba volunteering in the local hospital. One of the ways they spread healthcare down here is through house visits where the nurses are out in the field checking on the health of the community giving vaccinations, checking pregnant women, etc... This is a method of healthcare I think needs to be implemented in the states as a optimum choice for prevention.
We have a soccer match and volleyball games planned for this afternoon with the hospital staff. Then off to machu picchu on saturday. Luego!!

ReplyDeleteThey do have that in the States! They are called Public Health Nurses! :) Maybe we just don't have enough of it. In fact, I do not feel as if a lot of people are educated about the many different programs available. In fact, they definitely vary from county to county and state to state. I can't wait to hear about the Inca Trail. Love you!
